2025 in review

2025 was the year that changed everything. From presidential orders that brought AI and blockchain technology together to the consolidation of virtual assets as a key piece of the global economy. We saw record adoption, historic legal frameworks and a massive migration to digital that reminded us why control of your money should be in your hands. If you want to understand how the world changed this year, this recap is for you.

The institutional awakening and the new “Strategic Asset”

The year began with a strong push from the US, where the groundwork was laid to bring AI and blockchain infrastructure together. By March, the idea of crypto as a national strategic reserve was no longer a rumor and started to sound inevitable. In April, the GENIUS Act reached the US Senate to bring order to digital dollars, while giants like JPMorgan ended up accepting Bitcoin ETFs as collateral for their operations.

Argentina and Costa Rica, at the forefront of LATAM

Latin America was not just a spectator, it was a protagonist. February brought the first Bitcoin ETF in Central America thanks to Costa Rica. The biggest milestone, however, came from Argentina: first with a legal framework for tokens and, in November, with the historic legalization of contracts in virtual assets. Closing a deal in digital dollars now carries the same legal weight as doing it in Argentine pesos.

Mexico, from cash to the digital dollar standard

In Mexico, 2025 was the year of digital maturity. Crypto remittances broke records month after month, and by July, Mexican companies were already adding digital dollars to their treasuries to speed up international payments. By the end of November it was clear: Mexico is now a country of digital payments where stablecoins are the standard to protect value and send money.

Tether and tokenization, the size of the new world

October showed us the true scale of this industry. Tether (the company behind the most widely used digital dollar) sought a valuation of 500 billion dollars, competing directly with the largest banks on the planet. At the same time, the United Kingdom gave the green light to tokenized funds, removing slow and bureaucratic processes thanks to the network.

All-time highs and the great lesson of decentralization

The market reached record-breaking figures: Bitcoin passed $112,423 USD in September and hit a high of $126,000 USD in October. Meanwhile, the massive AWS (Amazon Web Services) outage reminded the world that when a single central server fails, half the internet stops.

Toward 2026, the era of hyper-adoption

If 2025 was the year of laws and institutions, 2026 is shaping up to be the year digital assets become an everyday ally, as common as any other way to pay.
